4 Crafts & 1 snack. My friend and I are room mothers for our kids kindergarten class. I have searched the internet up and down but don't really find anything interesting. We are trying to come up w/ some cute ideas but haven't really found any yet. The kids only go half day, so we only have 2 hours to do this party. The rules are no christmas things, like santa, christmas trees, and whatever else might be related(which I think is stupid). So I'm assuming that we can't do any Hanukkah related themes either. But Anyways.. we need to come up w/ 4 crafts for the kids to do, and a snack to make. The thing w/ the snacks is.. we can't make them at home, or prepare for them @ home.. We have to prepare everything at the school (I think b/c of things like hepatitis) . We have like 1/2 hour to get things ready for the kids while they are in their special (gym, etc) if that helps. I really would like some cute suggestions that might be memorable for them and any ideas like keepsakes that their parents would like to keep around. I know this might be asking for too much, but I'm just hoping to get some ideas to roll w/. We can do anything else to do w/ winter, like snowman, etc. Also we can't have the kids exchange gifts or anything along those lines. These rules are limiting our ideas so-- We really need some assistance and Thank You Very much; Your ideas are very much appreciated!!!! OH YEAH - We need to come up w/ a game too! I think there is a kitchen available, not too sure, but I think so. We aren't doing anything to do w/ Thanksgiving. The teacher said she's doing that holiday on her own. 2 years ago I went to my parent house on Christmas eve with my 2 little girls my mum and dad had asked me for certain things so like a good son I went out and bought the things they had asked for total cost of £200 They gave me a bag of present to take home for xmas day opening the presents on xmas day my wife and my little girls and my self opened the gifts from my mum and dad my present was a 26? wooden nut cracker my wife had a bright orange fake von Dutch t shirt and my 2 girls had a cheap doll my mum had accidentally left the price tickets on every thing totle cost of £22 pounds for every thing! The dolls broke xmas day the t shirt was age 8 to 10 not size and the nut cracker what can I say I have nut allergy since a baby! I didn?t say any thing to my mum and dad my brother and 2sister phoned up xmas day and was telling us what they had brother mixing decks and big tv for the wall sisters had £500 pounds each plus a £1000 pound deposit on a car and they got my sisters boyfriend a signed Manchester united top and dvd player My 1 sister told me how my dad had gone off on 1 and told them how gutted my mum was with the rubbish I had bought her I felt gutted I went up a few days later and took them shopping my dad had a right go and I should have said something but I didn?t he told me how upset my mum was and how she had cried I felt guilty my told me I had to make it up to her and how there was a nice watch she liked and I should buy it for her I did at the cost of £150 I also paid for her shopping £90 and then my dad went and picked up a I pod and gave it to me to get for him and I did I did not tell my wife when I got home Last xmas I had a pair of silk 99p pants girls and wife had £30 pounds in a card between them my mum and dad had over £400 pounds spent on them and they still looked disappointed they have not spoken to me since last year Facts my mum and dad have money! I live 45 miles from my mum and dad! In 9 years they have been to my house twice and I paid for the taxi to bring them They not old dads 52 and mum is 50 just gone didn?t get a invite to her birthday bash I have worked since I left school at 15 moved out of home at 19 now 33 and own a very successful photography company with 4 studios and 2 shops Never been in any trouble i dont care about what they get me they dont have any other grandchildren so a £3 doll when my 2 girls save they pocket money to get them somthing nice, drives me mad over the past year i have phoned sent text and emails and nothing no reply i was 33 in october and didnt get a card from them and if you new my dad lets just say you dont talk back to him! I am going home in a few weeks for xmas break from school and although I don't celebrate christmas, every winter break I like to bring presents home for my family just to show them I love and missed them. For my mom, I want to give her something that either tells her she is pretty or makes her feel pretty. I know it's quite vague but I was thinking the other day that girls love to be told they're pretty...and my mom's a girl. lol. I guess I forget that sometimes. I am middle-aged, which I feel bad enough about already. I feel like when you get into your 40s that people just no longer care that much about you. I have an anxiety disorder and am on meds for depression. I work in a nursing home as a caregiver and don't make much money. Just barely enough to pay my bills and take care of my pets. I want to give what I can to my 6 nieces and nephews and not have to spend it pitching in on a gift for my supervisor, spending $20.00 on a gift for a co-worker who's name I draw, play Secret Santa. My family is scattered all over the states, and my parents usually spend it with one of my sister's or brother's family. I know it will probably be just me and my boyfriend on Christmas, and maybe one of his friends that has nowhere to go. I want to get him (my bf) something nice too, since he helps me out when I am strapped for cash. How do I tell people at work that I'm not into what they are doing? How can I feel happier about me? How can I more enjoy the holidays? When I was a kid and even into my 20s I loved Christmas, but when I'm strapped for cash I feel so down and so helpless and apologetic to everyone. If you have something mean to say to me just leave this question alone. I did not know whether I should put this into etiquette or psychology. It probably belongs in both. (more...)
