My co-workers and I were having small talk about the upcoming holidays and they started talking about Christmas parties and then "secret santa" came up and when they said they do it every year I said "well you guys can count me out, I'm not into the whole Christmas gift thing anymore". They looked at me like I ran over their dog or something. I mean, I just transferred out here in September, I don't know these people that well, nor do I like them enough to spend money on them. Not only that I just don't buy presents period. I don't buy my family or friends anything and I always tell them not to buy me anything either. It's much more stress free for me that way. Then one of my co-workers said "what? you don't celebrate christmas?" and I said "well I do but not the materialistic way". I guess that part might have sounded rude but I just am not gonna budge on this one. I refuse to buy anyone anything. My son is 13 months old and he isn't even getting a thing from me. If you are making your Christmas plans with a friend or family member who is childfree and you have kids, is it rude of you to keep reminding them "You know, Christmas is all about the kids!" My mother and sister in law both do this to my husband and I every year and we're starting to take offense. We do not have children. My SIL (Hubby's sis) has one 4 year old who is absolutely spoiled rotten. We do not know the child very well at all, but we always buy her a gift-that goes without saying. When we are making our plans with them for CHristmas-discussing the gift exchange, timeline, etc- In every breath they feel the need to remind us that Christmas is "all about the kids." Well obviously if my husband and I felt that way we would have kids of our own. It's fine that they feel that way for themselves, but we are not driving 7 hours to spend Christmas with the four year old-we drive down to spend it with the group as a whole-and we relate better to the adults. I am starting to resent they way they quash any plans for gift giving I try to do with the other adults because they want me to focus on the 4 year old we barely know (because she is spoiled, she won't socialize and they don't even try to make her-they like having her all to themselves). They expect me to spend way more than I am comfortable with on the little girl when I prefer to give to the adults as well. They pull this routine every year. It upsets me every year. Is it time I pointed out to them that my life is not child centered. It's fine for them, but for us it is not "all about the kids"? Whether or not the girl is good or bad is irrelevant. It's a fact she will already be well provided for at Christmas. They are making us feel like our own Christmas standards are worthless and the only thing that should matter to us is their child. Hi everyone! I am looking for a recipe that is sugar free, and ESPECIALLY aspartame free. I am making different types of fudge as gifts for my boyfriend's immediate family for Christmas (his request, not mine!!!), and his niece LOVES sweets. Obviously they prefer not to give her tons of sweets because they are bad for her, so I was wondering if anyone had any recipes? Something soft like cookies is ideal, no hard candy recipes, she's 1 and a half. I want to make her something healthy, sugar substitute free, and sweet. Second, I would like tested fudge recipes!! I need a recipe for peanut butter fudge (with the marshmallow fluff), regular chocolate fudge, and diabetic fudge. I am aware there are recipes on the internet, but I'm hoping someone has actually attempted a recipe and got great compliments!
